Guided Play: Creating Meaningful Learning Opportunities

Guided play combines the child-directed aspects of free play with a focus on learning goals through light adult scaffolding and exemplifies an active, engaged, meaningful, socially interactive, iterative, and joyful learning context. This session provides examples and strategies that sensitive teachers can use to guide play and explores the use of Bloom’s Taxonomy as a way to think about the types of questions we ask students during powerful adult-child interactions.
