Increasing Access to Developmentally Appropriate Art Experiences for Young Children: The Kids Program at the Detroit Institute of Arts

It only takes one person to influence an entire generation after they’ve been exposed to the importance of arts and cultural experiences. Join us to learn more about the development of and research behind a unique visual art experience for young children and their families at the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) in partnership with HighScope. The session will include an overview of visual thinking strategies that align with developmentally appropriate practice. Presenters will model how to use these strategies to increase and improve art viewing and art making experiences in your classroom and provide free resources designed for teachers and families.
