Early childhood settings provide educators with many opportunities to embed early literacy experiences for young children. Some of the key areas of early literacy begin developing at birth, including speaking, listening, and emergent reading and writing skills. Fostering these early literacy skills through embedded learning experiences helps children to learn pre-reading and pre-writing skills and supports success in their later schooling and life. This session will share strategies for identifying playful moments and other routine-based opportunities in the early childhood classroom to embed early literacy experiences.
